The Nigerian actress, screenwriter and movie producer Uche Jumbo has at movie pirates who uploaded her movie on their site illegally.

The movie in question is her Uche Jumbo Studio productions first release back in 2012 “Damage” which featured herself and actor Kalu Ikeagwu.

In a recent Instagram post, she revealed that she had a WhatsApp chat with the perpetrators and they were unapologetic and unrepentant in their response.

This made her furious as some of the lines in the text indicated:

“…the thunder that will fire you if you are in this digital age illegal upload of someone’s creative work and sweat is doing press up”

“This industry is taxed heavily already”

“God, any person or group that will not let us reap the benefits of our Labour Holy ghostttttttt flreeeeeeeeeee!”

The issue of movie piracy in Nigeria is as old as the industry itself. There have been several campaigns and legal actions over the years, yet the perpetrators persist up to this internet age.

This squanders returns for the original producers for their hard work in creativity and expenses. We hope there would be a better way forward soonest.
