5 Things We Learnt From Olamide ‘999’ Album - Editorial

Just as promised, YBNL boss Olamide dished out his 9th studio album as he kickstarts the new decade. The album has been highly accepted by fans worldwide, topping charts in Nigeria and Ghana itunes. Olamide ‘999’ is currently the top most streamed chart on audiomack this week. It has amassed over 800,000 streams on audiomack in less than 24 hours.

The numbers are high, the feeling is right and the streets are in jubilation for the return of the street king. Olamide has been known for dropping projects everywhere since 2011. He only skipped 2019 giving room for his act Fireboy DML to premier his debut album.

Here are 5 things we learnt from Olamide ‘999’ album.

  1. Olamide is versatile

Olamide jumped on eight trap songs on his ‘999’ album. This further buttresses his versatility. The YBNL star has been known for dropping lamba as he did in ‘Wonma’ off the ‘999’ album, but he showed us he could still be a trap star.

  1. Olamide understands the show business

Dropping a 9-track album in the beginning of the year when everyone is shying away from dropping materials giving you enough time to dish out videos and engage in an album tour only tells us Olamide understands the business in music.

  1. He is a natural helper

The A/R in the album is top notch. Phyno pulled up his gang for his friend and Olamide gave new acts; Jackmillz, Jayboi, Milly, Sosa-E opportunity to shine and earn royalties. This is what ‘rising by helping others entails’.

  1. He is creative

Olamide’s creativity has never been questionable but he was at his peak in ‘999’. Mixing the western flows as seen in ‘Billion Talk’ with the African vibe is nothing but creativity.

  1. His PR team is top notch

It would only be bad if the PR is dope. How can you be topping album charts on almost all streaming platforms in the country in less than 24 hours if you don’t have the best fans and PR team?
