Nigeria Government on the 4th of June 2021 announced the suspension of Twitter usage in Nigeria which has taken effect today 5th June 2021.

The decision to ban the operation of Twitter in Nigeria came two days after part of the Presidents tweet was deleted for violating twitter’s rules.

At midnight today, Telecommunication giants like MTN, Airtel, Glo, and others have cut off all access to Twitter from within Nigeria. Nigerians are now resorting to the use of the virtual private network (VPN) to stay connected to Twitter.
