The year 2021 started off slowly due to the ripple effect of COVID-19 in 2020 but this did not completely stop our talented acts from churning out tunes on a regular basis. Many of these songs have cut across the globe effortlessly.

2021 has also seen a big rise in new acts dominating the music scene. Bearing that in mind, we have carefully picked the Top 10 Hottest Nigerian music collaborations of the year 2021

10. Davido – “Champion Sound” Feat. Focalistic

The best part of 2021, Davido was on tour shutting down shows home and abroad. He manages to serve us a Focalistic assisted single “Champion Sound” as his first single of the year.

9. Mayorkun ft Victony – Holy Father

Mayorkun released Holy Father in Collaboration with Victony only on October 27, it immediately spread like a wildfire all over the country. The synergy between Mayorkun and Victony could not be overemphasized. It’s a top-notch collaboration and one that Is worth mentioning

8. Teni feat. Davido – For You

Off the Wondaland album released in March 2021 comes the collaboration For You with Afrobeats king maker Davido. The collaboration happened by chance after Teni approached Davido on his driveway and asked for this feature. They probably never no idea it would be one of the best collaborations of the year.

7. Timaya ft. Buju – Cold outside

If there was any collaboration with the smoothest transitions, it would be Cold Outside by Timaya featuring a trendy act of the year Buju. Their collaboration was highly recommended by blogs, media houses, and music critics.

6. Feeling – Ladipoe ft Buju

Ladipoe gained the biggest song of his career this year with Feeling featuring the rave of the moment Buju – who coincidentally is also his biggest song to date. With catchy hooks and dope bars – Ladipoe and Buju made a song with huge replay value.

5. Adekunle Gold ft. Davido – High

Nigerian superstar Adekunle Gold had an exciting 2021 and wrapped it up with the monster hit HIGH featuring the hitmaker and king of Afrobeats Davido. The clubs, shows and parties go wild when the DJ plays this song. It’s now a routine that High must be played for a party to bang.

4. Blaqbonez feat. Amarae and Buju – Bling

Besides the genius collaboration that Blaqonez, Buju, and Amaarae put up, Bling is one of the most popular songs of 2021 and with great replay value. The song was off Sex Over Love album and it’s his most successful Blaqbonez song so far.

 

3. Fireboy DML – Peru ft Ed Sheeran

Just like the inclusion of Justin Bieber on Essence Remix, adding Ed Sheeran on Peru remix by Fireboy DML is another master-stroke for him, Afrobeats, and Nigeria. It’s not only because the British singer was featured on the song, but because, he owned the song and almost made it his – As I write, the song is charting in multiple countries. Taking away Mariah Carey “All I Want For Christmas” position on the Apple Music chart.

2. Wizkid ft. Justin Bieber and Tems – Essence Remix

The original collaboration between Wizkid and Tems on Made In Lagos became the national anthem of the world but when the remix dropped off the Deluxe album, it further changed everything and put Wizkid, Tems and Justin Bieber as future Grammy Winners come 2022. The creative direction of the song has kept it trending for almost 2 years now and counting.

1. Tiwa Savage ft Brandy – Somebody’s Son

Amidst her tape controversy, Nigerian female power singer Tiwa Savage released her outstanding Extended Play [EP] – Water And Garri and it features outstanding tracks including Somebody’s Son. It features ‘The Boy Is Mine’ singer Brandy. Even before the visual arrived, it trended globally and inspired thousands of trends and social topics. It became and still the ladies anthem today;
