Top 7 Videos of 2015 So Far

Published

on

“No! This is not a chart so there’s no need to get defensive people. It is simply a list, a list of Nigerian music videos released between January to April of 2015, that have in their unique ways entertained millions of viewers.

By “entertained”, we mean videos that managed to engage us with a good story line/message (not your usual recycled themes), combined with top-notch production and directing all packaged into a 3 minute or more content that was actually enjoyable! Oddly enough, this list doesn’t contain the regular crop of artistes you would expect to find, which is perhaps a good thing?

In no particular order, here’s our Top 7 videos of 2015 guaranteed to keep you glued to your seats till the end!

P-Square ft DonJazzy – Collabo

Shot by Clarence Peters in SA, the duo of P-Square teamed up with Don Jazzy in what is arguably their most comical video yet. Interesting story line, great acting/directing, beautiful people.

Watch:

Dammy Krane – Faleela

Yet another comic flick, Dammy Krane rightly picked “enterkraner” as his debut album name because he sure knows how to entertain. From the popular Iya Rainbow, to the girls and Dammy’s antics, we were reminded of the thrill of young love. Another brilliant video by Clarence Peters.

Watch:

BankyW – Mercy

On his return from New York Film Academy, we were all curious as to what Banky had to offer as a director…and boy did he prove himself. Mercy makes our list for its fantastic directing, great storyline with a very unexpected ending. Must watch!

Tuface & Wizkid – Dance Go

A perfect blend of the classic and new school,  award winning director Kemi Adetiba brought her ‘A’ game once more in the highly anticipated video for the official Hennessy Artistry 2014 theme track. An exciting burst of colors and use of special effects created a thrilling video.

Watch:

Asa – Satan be Gone

Now this was a tricky one. It was either this or Eyo, her more recent release. Perhaps Eyo would have been a more popular choice for obvious reasons, however, we found Satan be Gone more interesting in its simplicity. A very dramatic visual that saw Asa give a solo performance, you find yourself waiting for “Satan” or something to jump out.

Watch:

Kcee – Turn by Turn

One confession, it was either this or Wizkid’s Ojuelegba. That shouldn’t be so surprising since they both tell the same story of struggle. However, the theatrics we found lacking in Wizkid’s video was in abundance in Turn by Turn. Great acting as directed by Clarence Peters.

Watch:

Adekunle Gold – Sade

A beautiful cover of One Direction’s Story Of My Life, Sade has fast become a favorite especially among female fans. Admittedly not a very original story line but Adasa Cookey still found a way to keep it intriguing till the end.
