SONG REVIEW: “Manya” By Wizkid Another Overhyped Song ?
Manya by Wizkid x MUT4Y dropped few days ago on every major platform and has gained the attention of everyone but more especially the ever loving Wizkid fans on twitter.
But does this song live up to the hype ?, the simple answer is NO. It is extremely disappointing that Wizkid would hype Manya for days but only to find out that this is another “disposable song” that won’t even last half as much as Medicine and Odoo which has already faded away into thin air.
The song Manya started terribly, like how a bad freestyle would sound. No thoughts whatsoever was given into the presentation and delivery of this song. The chorus was a direct rip-off of old Ghanaian song by VIP – Gehu also called Ahomka Womu.
Then the beat dropped, which completely blew me away. A+ to Killertunes for the amazing beat. It’s such a perfectly made beat but with a horrible lyrics and delivery from our most outstanding African Artiste Wizkid.
Wizkid needs to quit trying to dish out music every week because his releases has not made any impact on the charts nor on the streets. He needs to study the music again, come up with a new style or simply stick to his signature style rather than trying to compete with the likes of Tekno, Runtown, Davido on the Pon Pon genre. He clearly isn’t made for this style.
We love Wizkid and would like him to continue in his legendary footsteps and make good music that will stand the taste of time, music like Holla At Your Boy, Ojuelegba, On Top Your Matter, Show You The Money and others, are still classics but definitely Manya.
Hopefully his case won’t be like that of Ice Prince 🙂
