Are Other Nigerian Artistes Copying Rema’s Singing Style?

Published

on

It appears other Nigerian artistes are copying Rema‘s singing style as recent tracks by Blaqbonez and Korede Bello seems to prove this.

Rema was a subject of online jests and trolls last year when he released the songs “Corny“, “Iron man” and “lavida” with Jonzing World Boss D’Prince which many fans claimed sounded like an “indian” and “Chinese” vocalist, some even tagged him a low budget Wizkid.

He proved his critics wrong as his unique and sonerant vocals churned out successful hits.  Afterwards, it became the recipe for other hit songs that followed. It now appears other artistes are starting to borrow a leaf from his style lately.

The first to test this recipe and a little bit surprising is the self acclaimed Best Rapper in Nigeria “Blaqbonez” on the song “Haba“, he tried his hands on this, as his new search for versatility and it was worth the try but not particularly convincing, as we are only used to Rema with this style of singing.

The next in line expectedly to try out this style was the frequently criticized label mate  “Korede Bello” in the song “MiCasa” and quite understandably it was “Ozedikus” that produced the song just like the earlier mentioned songs done by Rema. He made sure he played to the gallery and made an awesome song out of it. We might get to see more artistes trying this style as well as it has come to stay.
