Burna Boy Gives “Real Life” Lessons With The Help Of Stormzy – Real Life Review

Burna Boy's "Twice As Tall", Goes Number One In The World
Burna Boy – Twice as Tall

Off his fifth studio album, Twice As Tall, he sends a message most artists shy away from in the fourteenth track. Let us review the song, Real Life by Burna Boy.

With the help of UK rapper, Stormzy, Burna talks about the reality of today’s world and the ills of it. The song gives an insight on today’s social media deception and the lies most people tell just to feel better than the next person.

The song begins with American rapper/producer, Diddy, giving the intro which is part of a conversation he had with Burna Boy as they worked on the album.

Quotable Lyrics include:

I wonder which style dem guys dem go try now
If una never hear my story mek you find out
I know say nobody is an island
But if dem wan f*ck you for nyash, mek you no lie down
And I know you fit later realize am
But the way you don dey move I no dey like am
Somebody want to wear the shoe wey no size am
Me, I be Destiny’s Child, a survivor
Real, no be China

In the second and third line there, Burna tells us that we need to always rely on people around us as we are not self-sufficient but that does not mean we should give people the opportunity to take advantage of us.

Stormzy comes through with a message of hope in his chorus, urging us to ‘Please Stay’ and ‘Don’t Leave’.

Yes, we are blessed, but it’s harder to see sometimes
Tryna find my peace of mind, you said how could we be so blinded?
You just follow your dreams and go live your life
I give you something to believe in, I’ma be the reason

So please (So please), please stay (Please stay)
Say you won’t leave (Say you won’t leave)
Real life is for living but the vibes you’ve been giving’s not free
So please stay
We’ll share the whole thing, yeah
Real life is for living, use this life that you’re living, be free

Personally, i have listened to this track over a hundred times and i think this song is not getting enough attention from the album as it ought to.
