Omah Lay VS Bella Shmurda: Who Will Have A Better Year In 2021?
Few days from now, the most prestigious Awards in Nigeria, The Headies Awards, will take place and two of Nigeria’s newest acts, Omah Lay and Bella Shmurda, are nominated for the life changing Next Rated. What will this mean for them in 2021?
Omah Lay
Stanley Omah Didia also known as Omah Lay is a Nigerian record producer and singer that shot into limelight in 2020 after the release of his single, “Bad Influence“. He further dropped his first EP titled “Get Layd“.
His EP was featured on Cool FM 96.6 during the Tastemakers’ chart and also on Soundcity Top 20. Native Mag, a lifestyle magazine solely for the rise of Afrobeats listed the singer as one of their Best New Artists in March 2020.
The singer has gone on to have an amazing career since then. In the last quarter of 2020 he released another EP which he titled “What Have We Done?”
With almost 200,000 subscribers and millions of views on YouTube, the singer has had an amazing year and record to his name, and has also topped many charts for long.
Bella Shmurda
Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed, known as Bella Shmurda, is a fast growing music act that rose to fame after the remix of his song “Vision 2020” featuring Olamide.
Signed to YBNL record label, Bella Shmurda has been shown lots of love by various fans all around Nigeria and beyond.
He has several songs to his name which includes “Flex“, “No Mind Dem”, “Bye Bye To Poverty” and “Vision 2020”.
His hit single “Cash App” which features the Naira Marley and Lincoln has received massive recognition among Nigerian youth worldwide. The song won the City People Music Award for the Street Music of the Year in 2020.
Both artists has has a successful 2020 and obviously we haven’t heard the best of them yet. But which of these artists do you think will do better in 2021?
