What Will be Burna Boy’s Artistic Motive in his Next Album?
When it comes to releasing classic albums, Damini “Burna Boy” Ogulu sits comfortably on top of the ranks amongst contemporary African artists. His previous Grammy award winning album, Twice as Tall had the perfect mixture of Afrobeats, R&B and soul which the world couldn’t get enough of. Burna stands out as the only Nigerian contemporary artists who have made three consecutive globally recorgnised classic albums. His skill and versatility is indeed unmatched within the country.
The Twice as Tall album had themes that touched on love, politics, street violence and more. The Outsiders (Burna’s fanbase) are now yearning for the release of another Burna Boy classic, and the question on their mind is: what will be the motif of the album? In a recent tweet, the River state born music mystro gave hints on the direction of his forthcoming album. Read the tweet below:
This next album. I need you to hear the pain in my voice, The pain of an OUTSIDER, Forever marked by my skin ,my past and the place I come from No matter how skilled I am or how honourable I proved myself.

Now from all that, we could easily predict that the tone of the album will be more soulful and self-reflective as opposed to the regular love and money themes of Afrobeats songs. He has gone through quite a number of scandals before his eventual ascension as the African Giant. Is he going to be referencing these happenings on his songs? Or is he going to be creating lyrical puzzles for his fans to solve? We just have to wait till the album drops!
