See What This Tribe Of People Do During Chieftaincy Conferment

In this photo trending online, a man is seen splashing liquid on a lady’s face in what looks like a chieftaincy coronation event. The photo has sparked several reactions from people online wanting to understand if it’s a tradition.

According to one of the comments following reactions to the photo, the liquid being poured on the lady’s face is either water or gin which is used in some part of African tradition for libation to ancestors.

The splashing of the liquid according to the commenter was to seal the prayers made on the lady’s behalf. Other commenters however have condemned the tradition because of the hygiene implications.

Kindly share your thoughts with us about this tradition, also would you go through this process for a chieftaincy title?
