Did Skiibii, Fireboy DML, and Omah Lay Get it Wrong on Their Recent Foreign Collaborations? (Read More)

Wizkid wasn’t wrong when he said in an interview a few years ago that “me, Burna, and David are scratching the surface, the next generation of artistes are gonna take it to the next level” and truly, the likes of Skiibii, Fireboy DML, and Omah Lay are taking it to the next level but Rema seems to be taking his time more in terms of the foreign collaborations which is commendable.

Let’s start with Skiibii, he has everything going on for him at the moment even though for some time now, he dipped in musical form. The recent success of his latest hit “Baddest Boy” which is his most successful song of recent times and even one of the biggest tunes in the country as we speak. He is one of those who has benefitted from Davido’s collaborative generosity.
The issue now is “why a Tory Lanez” collaboration on the song again? and that’s not even the main issue. It wasn’t properly promoted. You don’t just make collaborations at the slightest opportunity because it’s a foreign collab. I feel if it was promoted, it would have been better but the collaboration wasn’t even needed now that the one he did with Davido is topping charts. It was a wasted opportunity.

Next in line is Fireboy DML, Who already doing amazing numbers with “Peru Remix” featuring Ed Sheeran. Fantastic collaboration, well planned, and carefully strategized. However, there is a collaboration with “21 Savage” which wasn’t properly utilized.
Then, the Collaboration on Madonna’s “Frozen” which is more of a cover than an actual Collaboration. I feel most people who knew the original song “Frozen” many years ago will effortlessly discard the idea of even having a Fireboy on the song.
Since this article is highly opinionated, the song might still grow on us but for now, we expected a lot better but that doesn’t take away Fireboy’s outstanding musical progress.

Finally, Omah Layyyyy? once his name is mentioned, you know we are talking about a certified new school hit maker. He has been super outstanding in the past 2 years but his recent Collaboration with Justin Bieber did really leave much to be desired.

The song adopted a completely different atmosphere of House music style which we don’t know Omah with. I can bet that the song will most definitely grow on music fans but I personally like the song only that I didn’t really feel Omah Lay’s part in the song. We are happy for his musical exposure regardless.

What do you guys think about these recent Collaborations by these artistes?
