BBMAs 2022: Wizkid’s Essence Remix Nominated At 2022 Billboard Music Awards
Wizkid, alongside Tems and Justin Bieber, has bagged a nomination at the 2022 BBMAs, Billboard Music Awards.
It is good news in the camp of Wizkid FC as the Afrobeats star got a nomination for his 2021 smash hit song Essence (remix) featuring Canadian pop star Justin Bieber and Nigerian R&B star Tems at this year’s Billboard Music awards.
The BBMAs announced this on their official Twitter page few hours ago when nominees for the 2022 BBMAs were revealed.
Wizkid is competing against other top stars, like Doja Cat, Giveon, Silk Sonic, and Justin Bieber, whose hit song ‘Peaches’ is also nominated, for ‘Top R&B Song.’
Having topped several local and international music charts with ‘Essence’ (featuring Tems) released off his 2020 ‘Made In Lagos’ album, Wizkid released Essence remix in 2021, featuring additional vocals from Canadian pop star Justin Bieber.
The remix made already blown ‘Essence’ blew even more, entering nearly all music charts in the US. It also made history as the first Afrobeats song (Essence remix) to debut on Billboard Top 10 when it peaked at number 9 in October 2021.
This year’s BBMAs ceremony is on May 16, and it will feature many performances from artistes from different parts of the world.
