The Controversies Surrounding The 2022 Headies Award
Ever since the list of nominees of the 15th Headies was released, there has been controversies and backlash from music lovers and musicians themselves. Many believe that the lists reeks of favoritism and that the organizers did not do adequate findings before nominating people.
First of all, some are of the opinion that Kizz Daniel shouuld be nominated alongside Wizkid, Olamide and Burna Boy for the artiste of the year category. Judging by the general acceptance of his Barnabas EP, especially his hit song Barnabas, many are still surprised as to why Kizz Daniel has only 1 nomination.
The second controversies surrounding the Headies award is the exclusion of Ckay in the prominent categories. Going by the success that his song Love Nwantiti and Emiliano enjoyed across the world, some are still amazed as to why he was left out.

The third and perhaps the most talked about is the issue of Cheque, the Penthauze signee came out to vent his anger on the social media by asking why the headies left him out from the categories that has to do with rap.
Also, there are people who believe that Victony and Yemi Alade were snubbed by the organizers of the award, noting that the artistes had a stellar year.
