Tems Ties Wizkid’s Record As Nigerian Artist With Most Billboard Hot 100 Songs
Nigerian music artist Tems has tied Wizkid’s Billboard record as the Nigerian artist with the most charting Billboard Hot 100 songs.
Tems has tied Wizkid’s Billboard record Monday, July 25, as her song ‘Free Mind’ debuted at 90 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her the fourth time of appearing on the chart.
Wizkid and Tems have now appeared four times on the Billboard chart. They are the highest charting Nigerian artists on the chart.
Tems, on the one hand, scored her first Hot 100 in 2021 with Wizkid’s ‘Essence’, on which she was featured alongside Justin Bieber, which debuted at 9. Her second and third appearaces on the chart were with Drake and Future’s songs—the one with Future, titled ‘Wait For You’, debuted at 1.
Wizkid, on the other side, scored his first Hot 100 in 2021 with Drake’s ‘One Dance’. Then he featured on Beyonce’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’, which debuted on the chart, marking his second appearance. His third time on the chart was with his own song ‘Essence’, and his fourth was with Chris Brown ‘Call Me Every Day’.
