Wizkid’s Aide Godson Calls Carter Efe’s ‘Machala’ Song “Nonsense”
Wizkid’s aide Godson calls Carter Efe’s ‘Machala’ song, which eulogized Wizkid, “nonsense” in a new video.
An aide to Nigerian music star Wizkid, Godson went live on Instagram Sunday (July 31) and berated Carter Efe’s ‘Machala’, which is a tribute to Wizkid.
Carter Efe, an online skitmaker and a die-hard fan of Wizkid, released ‘Machala’ Friday, July 29, as a tribute song to his idol.
Barely 24 hours after its release, ‘Machala’ topped Nigeria Apple Music, with the help of Wizkid’s fan base, Wizkid FC, who aggressively pushed and streamed it.
As ‘Machala’ popularity grew, many netizens were concerned Wizkid, about whom the song was made, has not reacted to—or posted about—it.
However, Wizkid’s aide Godson surprised netizens when he went live on Instagram and called Carter Efe’s ‘Machala’ “nonsense”.
According to Godson’s words, Nigerians like to listen to ‘nonsense music’ that can’t crossover to other countries.
He also mentioned ‘Zanku’, a genre originated by street-hop artist Zlatan, and ‘Gongo Aso’, a popular old song from Nigerian singer 9ice, as examples of songs that can’t be hits outside Nigeria.
