I Will Win Grammy Again Next Year — Burna Boy Vows

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy made a promise to win Grammy again.

A trending video, which seems to be from the night when Burna Boy won his first ever Grammy award in 2021, captures a euphoric Burna Boy vowing that he is going to win the world’s most prestigious music award, Grammys, again.

In the video, Burna Boy is in a friend’s embrace, congratulated over his 2020 Twice As Tall album that won the Best Global Music Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards in 2021. The friend then asks the ‘African Giant’ if he will recreate his win next time, and Burna Boy promises that he is going to win the award again ‘next year’.

Although Burna Boy didn’t release an album within the time frame for 2022 Grammy nominations, he has an album now, Love, Damini released 8 July 2022, that is much likely to be nominated next year.

Burna Boy had in 2021 become the first Nigerian artist to win a solo Grammy award. No Nigerian artist has, since Burna Boy’s win, won a Grammy for their solo project, either for a single or for an entire album.
