Here’s why Burna Boy has a chance of winning The Grammys tonight!
The 2023 Grammy awards show is tonight! And in a few hours from now, the winners will be announced.
Among the nominees at this year’s Grammys is Nigerian one-time winner Burna Boy, who got nominated in two categories (Best Global Music Performance for his hit song ‘Last Last’ and Best Global Music Album for his album ‘Love, Damini’).
His rivals for the Best Global Music Album award are:

Does Burna Boy stand a chance?
Honestly, Burna Boy does stand a chance and may be winning the both categories he is nominated in.
Out of the Best Global Music Album nominees, ‘Love, Damini’ has a few advantages that make it a legitimate threat to win.
First, it has great songwriting, something that’s very common in Global Music Album winners. Recall that in 2019, he lost his first Grammy nomination to Angelique Kidjo, and he re-strategized by coming back with ‘Twice As Tall’, which won him his first Grammy. If anything is true, it’s that Burna Boy has mastered how to make a Grammy worthy album.
Secondly, what also helps Burna Boy is the fact that in the Global Music Performance category, all but one of the nominees have not won a Grammy before.
Arooj Aftab is the only contestant that’s a threat to Burna Boy in the Global Music Performance category because she won the award for her song “Mohabbat” at the 2022 Grammys.
Burna Boy may end up winning either one or two of his nominations at the Grammys tonight!

World music is music from non-Western countries, including quasi-traditional, intercultural, and traditional music.

It’s a tall order for our boys and girls.
Grammy needs to give us afro pop category or create Afro Grammy like we have Latin Grammy- twitter- @Brotherayoade
