The Nigeria’s music space is ever-growing, with new talents filling the scene. Every year, new talents, who have got what it takes to make it big, debut either independently or through a record label.

In this article, you’ll find 20 rising Nigerian artists you need to watch out for in 2023.

1. Tar1Q

Tar1q, whose real name is Tariq Oluokun, is a fast-rising singer and songwriter signed to Chocolate City. He’s born on May 1, 2001 and is label mate to popular rapper Blaqbonez.

2. Ninety

Alabo Tuonims, popularly known as Ninety, is a Lagos-based artist who’s originally from Port-Harcourt. He got his breakthrough with the release of ‘Touch and Follow’, which has accumulated over a million streams across digital streaming platforms.

3. Majeeed

Ekeh Chiaka Joseph, known professionally as Majeeed, is a fast-rising Nigerian Afropop Singer and Songwriter. He has a recording deal with Dream Empire Music. His breakthrough single is ‘Yawa No Dey End’, released in 2022.

4. T Dollar

Olabinjo Ayotunde Quam popularly called T Dollar, is a Nigerian singer and rapper who gained attention with the release of the smash hits ‘Change Story’ and ‘Rise’, both of which were received and have garnered millions of streams since release.

5. Senth

Senth is a Nigerian singer, signed to YBNL owned by popular rapper Olamide. He was announced as the latest signee of YBNL in December 2022. Shortly after his unveiling he released ‘Dagger’, with an accompanying music video. The video got a million views on YouTube on its first day.

6. Khaid

Khaid is an 18-year-old Nigerian singer and trapper. He bagged a record deal with popular skitmaker Sydney Talker’s Neville Records on January 20, 2022. Following his unveiling, he released ‘With You’. In February 2023, he released the hit single ‘Jolie’.

7. Alpha P

Princewell Emmanuel, better known as Alpha P is a 20-year old singer-songwriter born in Benin City, Edo State, Lagos, Nigeria. While he’s in Benin, he performed as a duo with Mavin Records’ artist Rema, under the name RnA. Alpha P is currently signed to Universal Music International Company.

8. Bloody Civilian

Bloody Civilian is a singer and producer. She produced and recorded the song “Wake Up” with Rema for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her song ‘How To Kill A Man’ has given her an edge as a force to be reckoned with in the ever-growing Nigerian music industry.

9. Pawzz

David Tokuma Dekor, known by the stage name Pawzz, is a Benue-born Afro-fusion artist. He got massive attention following the release of his song ‘Koma’, off his 5-track debut EP ‘Prezz Play’.

10. Odumodublvck

Odumodublvck is a very talented rapper with a unique style of rap and stage performance. His lyrics convey the message of his bold and audacious personality. He has been an underground rapper for a while and has got guest features on other artists’ albums and singles. In 2022, he signed a record deal with NATIVE Records, in partnership with Def Jam Recordings.

11. Ria Sean

Ria Sean is a multi-talented Nigerian singer and songwriter. She makes her debut with the song ‘Thai Food’, which was followed up with another smash hit song titled ‘Uptown Girl’, all released off her 2022 EP called ‘Love Station’.

12. Novemba

Novemba, whose real name Samuel .O. is a fast rising nigerian artist. His debut project, Truly Novemba, dropped November 2020 and was followed up with his sophomore release in 2021.

13. Psycho YP

Nicholas Ihua-Maduenyi (Born October 28, 1998) widely known as PsychoYP, is a Nigerian alternative hip hop rapper, singer, and songwriter. He came into the music scene with a critically acclaimed mixtape YPSZN, which earned him a nomination at the SAMAs, and Headies for his second mixtape studio album YPSZN2.

14. YKB

With the independent release of his project “Before I Blow”, YKB captured the attention of fans. The young budding artist has amassed over 3 million streams across digital platforms. YKB’s latest release ‘SAN SIRO’ is currently doing massive numbers.

15. Minz

Minz, born Dami Aminu (Olúwadámilọ́lá Adédọlápọ̀ Amínù), is a 22-year-old Nigerian performing artist and producer. He hails from Lagos State. He has released a couple of songs doing numbers such as ‘Talk’, ‘Odoyewu’, and the latest, ‘Skin’.

Born Nathan Ayomikun Otekalu-Aje, Azanti has carved a niche for himself with his distinct R&B fusion style. His distinct sound separates him from other upcoming acts in the industry. He last collaborated with Psycho YP on the YP & Azanti Vol. 1 mixtape.

Kaestyle who is formerly known as Kaystyle is a singer, songwriter, and music producer from Rivers state. He has been in the game for a while but switched up his name. He’s signed to KeyQaad and label mate to Omah Lay.

19. Dami Oniru

After taking a two-year hiatus to perfect her craft, Dami Oniru released her debut EP ‘Bri’s Lounge’ in 2019. The body of work featured the standouts “Higher” and her hit record “Alive,” which coursed through topics such as love, romance, levelling up and being a better version of herself.

20. Kemuel

Kemuel Emmanuel, professionally known as Kemuel, is an Afro-RnB singer/songwriter from Rivers state Nigeria. Born on the 7th of December 1999 in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, Kemuel made his debut with the release of his EP ‘ESCAPE’.
