Here’s why ‘Yoga’ is Asake’s worst song so far.

‘Yoga’ by Asake has been his worst song since it came out. I have listened to almost all Asake’s songs (as a matter of fact, his debut album ‘Mr Money With The Vibe’ was my favorite album last year), but I have not heard anything as worse as ‘Yoga’.

If you are a lover of Asake’s music, you should agree with me that of all his singles released from 2022 to date, ‘Yoga’ is the least popular. Unlike songs such as ‘Omo Ope’, ‘Sungba’, ‘Peace Unto You’ and Organise’, ‘Yoga’ spent the least days at the top 3 of Apple Music Nigeria.

Why is ‘Yoga’ not as successful as his other songs?

‘Yoga’ sounds much different from his identity sound. It’s Asake’s first attempt at leaving his comfort zone, trademark sound. The whole song sounds like he’s experimenting. Although there’s presence of amazing songwriting, but it’s missing the Asake ‘flavour’ we all know.

The good side of the experiment, however, is that he is now fully aware that his audience don’t want that kind of vibes from him. His audience wants upbeat music!

The bad side of the experiment, though, is that the buzz he was getting last year after each release has strangely disappeared. People have moved on quickly from ‘Yoga’. Can Asake win all these people back? That’s a different topic for another day.
