‘Soweto’ Was A Freestyle – Victony
Nigerian music artist Victony has revealed that his smash hit song ‘Soweto’ was a freestyle.
Victony revealed this in a recent interview on the popular podcast show called Tea with Tay.
‘Soweto’ is unarguably the biggest record in Victony’s catalogue so far. The song, produced by Tempoe, was released in 2022. In March 2023, a remix with American rapper Don Toliver and Nigerian singer Rema was released.
According to Victony, ‘Soweto’ was recorded in 2021 and was actually a freestyle, not a song he sat down to write. He said that from the way it sounded ‘unserious’, anyone could tell it’s a freestyle.
He also mentioned that ‘Soweto’ was recorded on the same day he made ‘Rosemary’.
