22-year-old Nigerian singer Rema set a new record as his debut album ‘Rave & Roses ULTRA’ became the first African album to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify.

With the release of ‘Rave and Roses’ ULTRA,
Rema currently holds the record for the most streamed African album ever on Spotify with over one billion streams.

On Friday (April 28), Rema smashed Spotify record after he released the deluxe version of his debut album named ‘Rave & Roses ULTRA’. The version featured 3 pre-released songs (‘Calm Down remix’, ‘Holiday’, and ‘Reason You’) and 3 new songs (‘Charm’, ‘Hov’, and ‘Dunno Me’).

The album, which had over 500 million streams on Spotify before the deluxe, surpassed 1 billion streams following the release of ‘Rave and Roses’ ULTRA, making it a historical feat for Afrobeats genre.

The Benin City born singer now holds the record for the most streamed African album of all-time on Spotify with over one billion streams.
