Wizkid Becomes First African Artist With Three Platinum Singles In US
Nigerian music megastar Wizkid has set another as the first African artist to earn three Platinum singles in the US.
This was made known by Chart Data in a post on Thursday (May 11) via its official Twitter page. According to the post, Wizkid has now received three Platinum plaques for three singles, which is the most by any African.
Wizkid’s 2017 hit song with Drake titled ‘Come Closer’ was recently certified RIAA Platinum. In addition to ‘One Dance’ and ‘Essence’, it became his third song to go platinum in the country.
Other Nigerian artists with Platinum songs in the US include: Burna Boy, CKay, Rema, and Tems.
