Afrobeat singer-songwriter Made Kuti has debunked a fake Twitter post claiming he called out singer Burna Boy to stop sampling Fela Kuti’s music.

In the fake post pretending to be from Made Kuti’s Facebook, who is grandson to Afrobeat originator Fela Kuti, the creator wrote: ‘Enough with the samples’, ending the statement with a Gorilla emoji (an emoji representing Burna Boy).

In the caption of the fake Twitter page which shared the fake post, the writer wrote: ‘Made-Kuti finally breaks silent on his Facebook page, “enough with the samples” with a Gorilla symbol. 🦍the Afrobeatz artist and son to Legendary @Femiakuti screams out loud to say his mind [sic]’.

The fake post went viral and got the attention of Made Kuti on Twitter, who quoted the tweet, disclaiming the fake post and the poster.

The singer debunkued ever writing and posting such a post; in addition, he said any musicians that would like to sample should go ahead and do it all they want.

He wrote: ‘In the unlikely event this becomes something. It’s fake. Never posted this. If any musicians feels like it, sample to your hearts content. Also, I don’t ‘scream out loud’.
