Nigerian rapper Olamide has become the first African rapper to reach number four in the history of US Apple Music Top Album Charts, setting new records with his tenth studio album ‘Unruly’.

Olamide, full name Olamide Adedeji, on Tuesday night, Aug. 8, 2023, dropped ‘Unruly’, his tenth solo album and the successor to his ‘UY Scuti’ album, released two years earlier, on June 18, 2021.

It consists of 15 tracks and spans 40 minutes, with collaborations with some of the most popular ‘new school’ Nigerian artists: Asake, BNXN (fka Buju), CKay, Fireboy DML, and Rema.

In just a matter of hours after its release, ‘Unruly’ became the first (and the only) album by a rapper from Africa to make it to the ‘Top 4’ of the US Apple Music Top Album Charts, sitting comfortably at number four.

The other three albums above ‘Unruly’ on the chart were ‘UTOPIA’ by Travis Scott, ‘Been One’ by Ryle Rodriguez, and ‘AUSTIN’ by Post Malone. It’s history worthy that Olamide is among such a star-studded list.

In addition, ‘Unruly’ has charted in 55 countries since its release, which is a record for a rap album in Africa.

Congratulations to Olamide for ‘Unruly’ setting these records!
