Grammy award-winning Nigerian music star Wizkid lands on the latest cover of American magazine, GQ Magazine.

Wizkid, real name Ibrahim Ayodeji Balogun, has told GQ Magazine, which he graced their ‘3rd Wealth Issue’ cover unveiled today, August 11, 2023, that the collaborations he has done with other artists, DJs, and producers are his favorite ‘Wizkid’ songs.

The 33-year-old Lagos-born singer, who holds several records in the African music world, and on global level, such as: the first African artist to sell out the London’s 02 Arena in 12 minutes and one of the fastest to do so in the world, mentions to GQ about the wonderful impact of collaborations on his career.

He stresses that he derives a lot of joy in collaborating with different artists, producers, DJs, and that some of the songs he has made with them are his favorites. It’s not so surprising why they’re Wizkid’s favorites when you look at the records he has been able to achieve through working with international artists like Drake, Beyonce, Justin Bieber, and Chris Brown.

‘I’ve always believed in collaborating. I actually enjoy working with other musicians. I like to hear different types of sounds, beats, productions, and vocals. It’s inspiring for my process overall,’ he says. ‘Collaborations have done a lot in my career. Some of my favourite records are those I’ve done with other artists, producers, and DJs’.

Wizkid also states how he has elevated not only his music but even his image over time, precisely from the era of his debut album ‘Superstar’, released in 2011, through the most critically acclaimed album he has dropped, the 2021 Grammy-nominated ‘Made In Lagos’, to the latest in his six-album catalogue, ‘More Love, Less Ego’, released in November 2022.

He says about his growth: It’s not easy for me to properly articulate my evolution as an artist over the years. However, the evolution is in the music. My bodies of work reflect my growth and evolution. The sound is elevated, along with even my image.
