Afrobeats Not My Genre, I Don’t Believe In Music Genre – Burna Boy [Video]

Burna Boy genre Afrobeats Afrofusion

Award-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy has stated that he doesn’t believe in music genre and explained where his music belongs to.

He made this statement in a fresh interview when he was told that one of his latest songs–‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’–sounded new from any other songs he had made.

He thus replied that it was not a new sound but rather one he had been doing for a long time, and went on to define his music genre.

Burna Boy, in his statement, has never believed in music genre, and never liked to be boxed into one–whether Afrobeats, Hiphop, Dancehall, or Reggae–and for this reason, he created his own genre he called ‘Afrofusion’.

‘Unlike Afrobeats’, Burna Boy said, ‘Afrofusion isn’t a box. Why I created Afro-fusion is because I didn’t want to be boxed into Afrobeats or anything’.
