Listen: Burna Boy Drops 7th Album ‘I Told Them’
Nigerian music star Burna Boy has released his seventh studio album ‘I Told Them’.
The 2021 Grammy winner of Best Global Music Album, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, dropped ‘I Told Them’, his seventh album, today, Friday (August 25).
Coming behind his commercially successful sixth album ‘Love, Damini’, released 2 July 2022, which birthed his myriad stadium tours across Europe, ‘I Told Them’ takes a different direction sonically from previous albums Burna Boy had made.
Unlike its predecessors, ‘I Told Them’ is heavily influenced by Hip-hop. This influence is palpable all through the album, consisting of only 15 songs, and in the selection of collaborators as well–J Cole, Dave, 21 Savage, GZA, RZA, and Byron Messia.
Only one artist not of hip-hop background graced the album–Seyi Vibez on track 11 titled ‘Giza’. There is thus no doubt about this album being a new creative direction for the versatile Burna Boy to reach the world.
