Drake Loses $500,000 Bet As Sean Strickland Defeats Israel Adesanya
Grammy-winning rapper Drake has lost a bet of half a million dollars on UFC’s fighter Israel Adesanya, defeated by Sean Strickland in a fight Sunday morning.
Nothing went as planned for Drake, whose gambling spirit is well known, at UFC 293 held in Sydney, Australia, between former UFC Middleweight title holder, Adesanya, and the new champion, Strickland.
Few hours before the fight, on Saturday, the Canadian rapper on his Instagram page revealed he had bet £401,000 ($500,000) on Adesanya to knockout Strickland. He was to cash out £738,000 ($920K), had the fight gone his way.
Adesanya, having been knocked down in the first round, lost his title to Strickland after all three cageside judges scored the fight 49-46 in his favour.
In a post on his X ( formerly Twitter) page, the Nigerian-born fighter, also known as Style Bender, reacted to his deafeat. Showing his bruises in a video, he said, ‘I hate losing, but I love living. What a life!’
