Don Jazzy Reacts As ‘Calm Down’ Becomes First African Song To Hit One Billion Streams On Spotify
Mavin Records’ owner and producer Don Jazzy has taken to social media to react to ‘Calm Down’ hitting one billion streams on Spotify.
‘Calm Down’ by Nigerian superstar Rema, signed to Mavin Records, featuring famous American singer Selena Gomez, hit one billion streams on Spotify, yesterday (September 10), becoming the first African song to reach the milestone.
Spotify, one of the biggest music streaming platforms in the world, announced via it’s verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday evening that Rema has become a member of the Spotify’s Billions Club, with his song reaching a billion streams.
The post read: ‘We can’t Calm Down, @heisrema has entered the #BillionsClub with the first African artist-led track to hit a billion streams on Spotify! Congratulations to Rema and @SelenaGomez!’
On Monday morning, Don Jazzy took to his X page to celebrate the win, noting that it’s not a small achievement. He congratulated Rema, Selena Gomez, and also thanked their fans, the Ravers and the Selenators, as well as the Mavin team.
He accompanied his caption with a mixed video of Rema performing the hit song, meeting Selena Gomez, and fans singing the lyrics.
