Top Nigerian Entertainers Who Became Pastors
Switching from being a celebrity; a movie or music star to shepherd is an herculean task because of the criticism that comes with it. Here are the top Nigerian celebrities that became pastors or evangelist.
1 . Banky W
Banky W started his career as a singer and a record label owner. He signed artiste like Skales and Wizkid and brought them to limelight. However Bankole Wellington has switched from mainstream romance and club party music to pastoring a church and he is also a politician and an actor.
2. Jimmy Odukoya
Jimi Odukoya, the son of late Tunji and Bimbo Odukoya is another celebrity (actor) who went from the showbiz business to full time pastoring. He was/is an actor, in fact, he played the role of the leader of the Oyo Mesi in the award winning movie ‘The Woman King’. Jimi Odukoya is now the lead pastor at his late Father’s church.
3. Ebenezer Obey:
Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey is another. The legendary highlife/juju musician is now an Evangelist. He noted that he received the call of God and after he became an Evangelist, many of his fans stopped asking after him.
4. Leo Da Silva
Leo Da Silva is another entertainer who became a clergyman. Though not full time, Leo Da Silva has graduated from a Methodist Seminary and according to him, he pursued this to learn more about God not to neccesarily become a pastor.
