‘Calm Down’ by Rema Hits New Record, As It Becomes The Highest Certified African Song in the United States
Since its release in 2022, ‘Calm Down’ has been a major hit. It has become the most commercially successful African song in the United States of America. “Calm Down” Remix which featured America’s top artist Selena Gomez has sold 6,000,000 units, earning it a 6-time platinum plaque from RIAA.
The song also had a remarkable run on the Billboard Hot 100, spending over 52 weeks on the chart and reaching No. 3. This made it the highest peak for a Nigerian song and the second highest for an African song, just behind Hugh Masekala’s 1968 record ‘Grazing In The Grass’ which reached No. 1
