Fireboy asked for album like Wizkid's Superstar

Nigerian singer Fireboy DML has opened up that he ‘always’ asked God to give him an album like Wizkid’s Superstar.

In an interview on The Afrobeats Podcast, with popular podcaster Adesope, Fireboy said he asked God for a debut album like Wizkid‘s Superstar.

The revealing conversation involved Fireboy saying he was ‘scared’ while making his debut album, ‘Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps’ because he had just two singles as at then, asking Adesope jokingly, ‘who does that before releasing an album?’.

The star revealed that before making his debut album he wished and prayed to have an album that would give him a grand introduction just like his senior colleague Wizkid‘s debut album Superstar did.

He described Superstar as a classic album, which also gave Wizkid a big breakout 12 years ago. And he (Fireboy) just wished for that kind of successful breakout album, too.

The 26-year-old further stated that he is thankful ‘Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps‘ ended up becoming a successful album, with which he got his breakout.

He also mentioned his record label’s boss, Olamide, as the person who believed in him when he (Fireboy) decided to drop LTG.
