Wizkid Faces Streaming Farm Allegations Amid Chart Fluctuations Of “Kese”
Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has found himself at the center of controversy following allegations of stream farming to manipulate chart rankings of his latest song “Kese (Dance)”.
The debate erupted after X users highlighted irregularities in the performance of Wizkid’s latest single, “Kese”, on Apple Music.
One user pointed out a sudden drop in the song’s performance, tweeting:
“Wizkid Kese dance has now disappeared from both Apple Music Top Songs and Apple Music Top 100. Hmmm.”
Another criticized the alleged practice, stating:
“At Wizkid’s level, he shouldn’t be farming songs. Leave some things to upcoming artistes like Buju BNXN, Lyta, and that Okoya’s son.”
The most glaring observation came from a tweet questioning the fluctuations in streaming numbers:
“How will a song gain 1.5M streams yesterday and drop to 700k the following day? Wizkid is never beating the stream farming allegations.”
Streaming farms, a term used to describe artificial methods of boosting music streams through bots or bulk plays, have become a contentious issue in the music industry. Artists accused of this practice often face criticism for prioritizing chart success over organic listener growth.
