Headies-nominated singer Portable has been reported to the Nigerian Police Force over a violent video in which he appeared threatening to kill fellow nominees.
The fast-rising singer shortly after he was nominated for two Headies awards was captured in a video on May 25, saying he is the most worthy of both awards among other nominees and he will kill any co-nominees that Headies gives the awards to.
The Headies on Friday (May 27) released a public announcement via its Instagram page, addressing Portable’s video.
In it, it condemns his act and says it does not support ‘utterance of any threats or actions that contravene our laws’.
It adds that the police has been informed of the matter, and it will not hesitate to disqualify him and let the law be enforced either.
According to the announcement, Portable can do only two things to avoid disqualification and arrest: One, he should retract the video from his social media account. Two, he should apologize formally to the nominees and to the Headies.
