Drake’s speech cut off by Grammys organisers
One of the notable downsides of the 2019 Grammy Awards ceremony was the absence of the biggest names in Music. I am talking about names like Eminem, Jay Z & Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Ariana Grande, Etc.
The reason behind their absence is mostly anybody’s guess, save for Ariana who turned down Grammy’s offer to perform for restricting her choice of song for the event. She skipped the show all together eventually.
However, Drake who also turned down a performance role, made it on stage to receive his award for God’s plan as best hip hop song.
While giving a lengthy acceptance speech, the “Take Care” rapper took out time to encourage aspiring artists in the following words:
“This is an opinion-based sport,” i.e the music industry. “This is a business where, sometimes, it’s up to a bunch of people who might not understand what a mixed race kid from Canada has to say, or what a fly Spanish girl from New York, or a brother from Houston.”
He then sends a shout out TO Travis Scott, and continued: ”The point is, you’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero from your hometown, if there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain and the snow, spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows…you don’t need this right here (the Grammy award). I promise you, you already won.”
Before he could continue with his speech, his Mic was cut off from the feeds and an immediate commercial followed.

Since that moment, embittered fans took to social media to express their feelings. Some others actually took home the message in the speech and praised him for the effort.
If you follow up trends on the Grammys over the years, it would not be news to hear about the stiff relationship between the organisers and Drizzy.
The last time the rapper was at the ceremony was back in 2013 where he won the award for Best Rap Album. Ever since, he has dished criticisms to the award body towards the Rap culture.
We hope to get a response about this recent happening from Drake soon. Maybe in a tweet, an interview or a song.
