Justin Bieber, Wizkid Have More Music Ready
In late 2021, Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid teamed up with Canadian pop icon Justin Bieber to remix the fan-favorite ‘Essence’, released off the former’s critically acclaimed 2020 album Made In Lagos. The remix would go on to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and subsequently ended up at the ninth position on the chart’s Top 10, becoming the first Nigerian song to do so.
Unarguably the outstanding track on the album, ‘Essence remix’ was rereleased on ‘Made In Lagos Deluxe’, along with new tracks like ‘Anoti’, ‘Steady’, and Buju-assisted ‘Mood’.
Speaking in an interview with Complex, an American entertainment media, Wizkid talks about how ‘Essence remix’ was made. He reveals that he was first approached by the Canadian, who had developed a deep passion for the original song.
‘He reached out to me and he loved the record. He sent the verse and it was just fire’. Said Wizkid. ‘We linked up and we performed it’.
He further talked about possible future collaborations with the ‘Justice’ hit maker.
According to his words, there are some songs, besides ‘Essence’, he and Justin Bieber made when they linked up.
‘We got some more music together as well’, he said.
Why Justin Bieber May Feature on Wizkid’s Next Album!
Following the historical 3-day 02 Arena concert he had in London in December, Wizkid announced on his verified Instagram page that he was releasing another album.
He titled the upcoming album ‘More Love, Less Ego’ and promised its release would be the last day of his tour.
Untowardly, the tour was pushed back due to Covid-19, and the album did not release.
Wizkid, while answering questions on the album on MTV, said it would have just three features.
Justin Bieber, we hope, might just be one of them, since Wizkid himself confirmed they had more music ready.
