DIALOGUE
Is Rema Signed To Mavin Records? Find Out Everything Here!

There has been much argument lately regarding whether Rema is signed to D’Prince’s Jonzing World or Mavin Records. His disappearance on the lastest Mavin’s joint release, ‘Overdose’, left fans doubting his relationship with Don Jazzy, owner of Mavin Records.
In this article, therefore, this writer seeks to explain the relationship between Rema, Jonzing World, and Mavin Records.
In 2018, Rema, born Divine Ikubor, dropped a crazy freestyle of D’Prince’s ‘Gucci Gang’ featuring Davido and Don Jazzy on Instagram. The freestyle got the attention of D’Prince who then flew down to Benin, Rema’s hometown, and brought him back to Lagos to offer a record deal. At that time, D’Prince, who is also Don Jazzy’s brother, had just started his own record label, Jonzing World.

When D’Prince began working with him, he introduced Rema to his brother Don Jazzy. Rema would spend the rest of 2018 and a few months of 2019 under both of them, receiving training on his artistic development.
In 2019, Rema signed a record deal with both Jonzing World and Mavin Records. On May 21, Jonzing World in conjunction with Mavin Records released Rema’s debut project, a self-titled Extended Playlist which produced the hit songs like ‘Dumebi’ and ‘Iron Man’.
The relationship between Rema, Jonzing World, and Mavin Records is best explained like this:
D’Prince did not start Jonzing World as an independent label. Rather, he partnered with his brother Don Jazzy and made Jonzing World a subsidiary label to Mavin Records.

A subsidiary label is a small label operating under a major label and benefiting financial and marketing support from the major label.
Jonzing World operates under Mavin Records’ unit Mavin Global, so Rema, is signed to both record labels. That is, he is a Mavin artist and, at the same time, a Jonzing World’s artist.
The reason why Rema is not on Overdose is because of another reason that Don Jazzy recently talked about on a radio. You can read about it below.
