The Prophet Spreads His Gospel Across Genres: A Review Of Blaqbonez ‘Young Preacher’
A Review of Blaqbonez’s Young Preacher
Blaqbonez is a prophet of sex over love and in this new album of his ‘Young Preacher’, the prophet spreads his gospel across every genres of new school music. Growing and reveling in the magnitude of his creativity, the young man with a lanky body is not slowing down, every song of his brings something new and every track is a breath of fresh air.
On this album Young Preacher, Blaqbonez tried his hand on so many genre of music; rap, dancehall, grime, afrobeat, afropop and so many others. Beyond that, every track on the song tells a story of his personal life, how he fights his demons, his growing up and his unrepentant sinful life as a playboy.
The first song on the album starts with the melodious of the trumpet and talks about how he will always rate sex over love, even as a preacher, Baqbonez noted he is having sex with every choir mistress and wouldn’t mind preaching again on the altar.
Talking about the features, the collaboration with Lojay added something beyond the ordinary to the album, the inclusion of Amarae who is well known for her freaky lyrics proves that Blaqbonez knows his onions.
What is an album without a danceable song? The track ‘Ess Mama’ with Tekno is shows Blaq’s never relenting attitude; he is a creative that can’t be put into a box. This is a great body of work.
