Release The Song I Like Or I Will Leak It – Singer, Guchi Drags Record Label
Budding Nigerian singer, Guchi has called out her record label on Twitter for restricting her creative freedom, threatening to leak her own song.
The Kaduna-born singer debuted in 2019 with ‘No Be Jazz’ and, later that year, signed a record deal with PG Entertainment, under which she has been releasing her songs ever since.
However, in a series of Twitter posts on Sunday (May 28), Guchi, whose real name is Ugochi Lydia Onuoha, lashed out at her label for tampering with her creative freedom and passion for music.
She underscored that record labels shouldn’t let the business aspect of music be an hindrance to artists’ passion for music, saying ‘music shouldn’t be this complicated’!
She then added that if the song she wants is not released by her label, she would go ahead and leak it herself.
‘…Labels should remember, passion led the artist here and shouldn’t let the business side of things override that passion. If the song I like isn’t released, then I will go ahead a leak it’, Guchi wrote.
