I Started Signing Artists Because I Didn’t Know What To Do With My Money – Olamide

Popular Nigerian rapper Olamide has revealed that he decided to sign new artists to his record label, YBNL, when money became too much for him and he had no idea of what to do with it.

Olamide, who released his latest album ‘Unruly’ recently on which he featured two of his current signees (Asake, Fireboy DML), made the statement in an interview, posted on X.

In YBNL the current artists include: Asake, Fireboy DML, and Senth; according to Olamide’s statement in the video, his decision to give them a platform was influenced by the realization that he had no use for all the money he had been saving up.

He, therefore, reached a conclusion to invest the money in people (artists), which led to the signings of the artists presently in YBNL, including those who were there before them: Adekunle Gold, Lil Kesh, Chinko Ekun, Lyta, and more.

‘I just started stacking up money and the money was becoming too much for me’. said Olamide. ‘I was like “yo, I don’t have anything to do with this money. I need to sign new guys. Let me spend money on people”’.
