Suspended RCCG Pastor Reacts To Sodomy Allegations: Claims He Didn’t Coerce Any Male Teenager
In a dramatic twist to the ongoing scandal, Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has vehemently denied allegations of sodomy involving male teenagers.
Following his suspension alongside Deacon Oke Mayowa, the pastor took to his Instagram page to clarify his stance on the serious accusations that have rocked the church community.
The RCCG’s decision to suspend AdeBello and Mayowa came after a viral post from the controversial blog Gistlover, which claimed they were involved in homosexual acts. In an internal memo dated October 28, 2024, RCCG National Overseer Pastor Sunday Akande confirmed the suspensions pending an investigation into these grave allegations.
In his statement, AdeBello expressed frustration over the lack of concrete evidence against him. He stated, “I have never demanded sex from any male as payment or gratification,” emphasizing that his accusers are hiding behind anonymity without any substantial proof beyond a WhatsApp screenshot.
The pastor lamented how this situation has led to unwarranted attacks from those who do not know him personally. The allegations suggest that AdeBello coerced young males into sexual relationships under the guise of offering assistance and opportunities within the church.
He firmly rejected these claims, asserting that discussions in the WhatsApp group were purely educational, focusing on male reproductive health and self-esteem, not sexual misconduct.“I categorically affirm that I am innocent of the allegations against me,” he declared.
AdeBello explained that the discussions included topics like hygiene and self-acceptance, aimed at empowering young males rather than exploiting them.
The pastor’s statement raises questions about the culture within religious institutions and how quickly reputations can be tarnished by unverified claims. The RCCG has reiterated its commitment to biblical principles, citing scripture to underscore its stance against homosexuality.
