The Nigerian music industry is global and has many fresh talents, who are popularly called ‘New Generation’.

The new generation Afrobeats artists include Fireboy DML, Rema, Omah Lay, BNXN, Ruger, Lojay, Ayra Starr, Zinoleesky, and Bella Shmurda.

However, among the new generation artists, Fireboy and Rema stand out the most in terms of their impressive records and discographies accomplished within 3 years of their respective careers.

Fireboy, who is currently signed to YBNL, has released 3 studio albums and singles.

Fireboy became a global sensation after the success of the remix of his hit song Peru, which features popular British singer Ed Sheeran. In early 2022, he became the first Afrobeats artist to perform at BET Awards main show. His hit Peru, featuring Ed Sheeran, is certified gold in the US. In September, he hit 2 billion total career streams across all platforms.

On the other hand, Rema, who is signed to Jonzing World/Mavin Records, has 1 studio album, 1 compilation album, 3 EPs, and singles.

Rema first became a global sensation following the release of his first EP. In early 0ctober 2022, he became the fastest Afrobeats artist to have a music video hit 200 million views on YouTube. His current hit song Calm Down (remix) is currently on Billboard Hot 100.

Both Fireboy and Rema have won prestigious music awards. Rema won the highly rated Next rated award in 2019, of which Fireboy was a contestant. Fireboy, in 2020, won five Headies awards in a single night.
