#EndSARS: Nigerian Police Force Replaces Rouge Unit, SARS, With New Name, SWAT

Inspector General of Police

The Nigerian Police Force has started preparations for the replacement of the newly disbanded police unit, SARS, with a new one named SWAT.

The new group set to replace them will be identified as SWAT, which is a short form of Special Weapon And Tactics.

In a press release by the official twitter handle of the force, the Inspector General of Police has mandated all ex SARS officials to return to Abuja for debriefing and other forms of training.

Some part of the statement read: “Prospective members of this new team will also undergo psychological and medical examination to ascertain their fitness and eligibility for the new assignment.”

This however means that the same officers of the allegedly defunct SARS group will be the newly created SWAT group.

What changes do you think this will make in the police force?
